An orbital/eye prosthesis is a custom-made prosthetic device designed to replace and restore the appearance of the eye socket and surrounding structures (such as the eyelids and part of the cheek or brow) when these are lost due to trauma, surgery, cancer or congenital condition. The orbital prosthesis requires an Ocular "glass eye" which is made from acrylic. The prosthesis is designed to hold the ocular in a natural gaze.
The prosthetics are designed to stay securely in place with medical grade adhesive or implant retention or combination of both systems. In some cases an anatomical retention may be achieved.
